This music tradition which fuels our lives is still here both because of the archivists who had the vision to document it, and the musicians who were so drawn to it that they never let the flame flicker.  This is indeed a living tradition, and predominantly an oral tradition as well, with new generations reinventing the gospel as they see it and hear it, the way it's always been done. Our contemporary world necessitates inclusion of new perspectives, while staying true to the driving forces, the hum and fire of the American trance music, the workaday glory, the pain of life.  Glory to the SPPS for moving this unwritten world into the future, helping perpetuate for all time these rhythms, harmonies, sentiments.  We all do it because we can't help ourselves and we can't stop!  Ain't that right. The STAIRWELL SISTERS are a driving all-gal old-time stringband from the hills of San Francisco, featuring kicking instrumentals, hair-raising harmonies, and red-hot buckdancing. Energetic musicianship and tight vocal arrangements make for good listening and good dancing.

The Stairwell Sisters formed in a quick minute, in an apartment overlooking the hills of San Francisco in the year 2000. Their musical tastes, personalities, and driving groove fell right into place, and has been notably honed over the years, creating a unique Sister sound.

 The band recorded their debut CD, The Stairwell Sisters, in 2003, and followed that with Feet All Over the Floor in the summer of 2005. All of the Sisters contribute material and ideas to the band, and have garnered quite a following for their dynamic show. They live up to their motto "good-time gals love old-time tunes.
