HOW TO USE SMARTFTP

We assume you can install programs on your computer and have some basic computer skills.

First, you need Smartftp if you are on a PC. You also need broadband to download flac - if on dialiup, go for the mp3's.

If you are on dialup and have no patience, I suggest joining the goodledays group and asking for someone to help you out with a BNP. If you don't know what a BNP is, look here.

Download SmartFTP here.

then install it - if you need help with this step, please ask someone with some computer experience to help.

then -

1. open smartftp
2. in the server box put: thespps.org
3. in the login box, put spps
4. in the password box, put spps

hit "enter" on your keyboard.
 
you should get a directory listing, showing the contents of the server. (it may take 30-60 seconds to login)
 
This picture should help you see where the login/password goes. (you may not get to see your password)

 

 

THEN...

Click on one of the folders to see what goodies are inside & pick out a set to download. (If you pick the friends folder, you will need to click on the bands name to see their shows)

right-click the folder containing the show you want. Choose download>direct>select folder

then browse to where you would like the show saved & it should start downloading.  I would suggest just choosing desktop at the very top the first time you do this.
 
 
 

and click ok! It will take awhile to finish the download, and there are more advanced ways of using smartftp, but this should help you get started!

IF you are having problems....

try turning off your firewall or set to Passive Mode.

To set to passive mode in smartftp:

Go to Tools>settings (like this)

Then Click Connection in the left pane, and in the "Data Connection: Mode" box, set it to passive.
